A Carbon-Constrained World

The presentation incorporates a series of graphs depicting the urgency – and complexity – of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It underscores the need for technological innovation to supplement greater efficiency along with an increase in the use of nuclear and renewable resources. The presentation also demonstrates how the rise in GHG emissions in China and India inevitably will swamp the reductions in the West. It presents coal gasification, including innovations in carbon capture storage and underground coal gasification, as potentially significant solutions.
