Jonathan Palmer currently splits his time between the firm’s Seattle and Hong Kong offices. From 2005 to May 2008, he served as the Regional Managing Shareholder of the Asia practice. Prior to taking up the Asia management post, Mr. Palmer practiced law for seven years in Heller Ehrman’s Seattle office.  Before that he practiced in San Francisco with a major international law firm.

Experience

Mr. Palmer focuses on complex business dispute resolution, litigation and regulatory and ethics investigations. He is a member of Heller Ehrman’s international arbitration practice, and also a member of the firm’s Antitrust & Trade Regulation, and Complex Commercial Litigation practice groups. He has represented corporate clients in both state and federal courts in the U.S., in arbitrations, mediations and other ADR proceedings, and in internal investigations throughout Asia. In addition to antitrust and complex commercial litigation, his dispute resolution practice has included consumer class actions, insurance coverage, securities, and trust litigation; as well as real estate, construction, licensing, trade secret and other complex business disputes.

Mr. Palmer’s awards include being chosen by Washington Law & Politics as a “Rising Star” in 2000 and “Super Lawyer” in 2001 and 2004.

Representative Engagements

  • Represent global multinational corporations in internal investigations including allegations of price fixing, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations and other U.S. regulatory matters.
  • Represent an Asia-based airline in connection with a criminal antitrust investigation.
  • Represent a Chinese pharmaceutical company in the first ever antitrust class action law suit brought against a Chinese company.
  • Represented a major software company in numerous nationwide consumer class actions in both state and federal courts brought under antitrust, RICO, consumer protection and unfair competition laws. (2001-2005)
  • Represented a major international food and beverage concession company in antitrust, unfair competition and consumer protection claim litigation. (2004-2005)
  • Represented an energy company in a complex commercial arbitration and related litigation against a French-based power transmission and distribution corporation. (2003-2004)
  • Represented a mobile marketing technology company in litigation and ADR proceedings related to a trade secret dispute. (2003)
  • Representing a waste management consortium in ongoing Fifth Amendment Takings litigation against the United States in the Court of Federal Claims, and in related state court and ADR proceedings. (1998-2005)
  • Represented a major payment card association in antitrust actions brought by Department of Justice and private litigants. (2000-2001)
  • Represented an Internet service provider/software company in litigation and related ADR proceedings stemming from a failed joint venture agreement and related license and trade secret disputes. (2001-2002)
  • Represented an Israeli integrated water submetering company in litigation and related ADR proceedings stemming from a failed joint venture with a U.S. technology company. (2001-2002)
